OVER A CENTURY OF SERVICE

Ever since the early 1900s, when we installed many of the city’s first plumbing and boiler systems, Ottawa Plumbing and Heating has valued one thing above all else: maintaining a close-knit, ambitious team that provides our community with unparalleled service.

who we are

Our company is a locally owned business operated by the Reid Family. Residing in Barrhaven and Manotick, we are a small team based on a five-acre property at 1746 Carsonby Rd. E, conveniently located off Highway 416 at the Bankfield exit. Our technicians, who take their service vehicles home, can be dispatched from various locations across the greater Ottawa area.

our story

While Ottawa Plumbing and Heating has had a long and not always direct road to where it is today. We are honoured to say that we are one of the few Ottawa-based companies that is family-run and encompasses three generations. Among these achievements are a host of employees who have started and built their careers at Ottawa Plumbing and Heating and many who still work here today, offering their professionalism alongside our brand.

Our Values

Ottawa Plumbing and Heating and all of its employees share a range of values that we believe are necessary to run a successful business that provides for its community.

Some of these values include honesty, impeccable workmanship, integrity, diversity, professionalism and top-rate customer service.

HELPING INDUSTRY NEWCOMERS SUCCEED

Our experts are eager to share their knowledge. We have continually worked with young mechanics through co-op programs and apprentice training to help them excel in their new careers.

NOT YOUR AVERAGE "FURNACE MAN"

We are one of the few companies in the area to employ female burner technicians—and we are proud of it! Ottawa Plumbing and Heating was also the first HVAC company in the Ottawa region to promote mechanical training for women in our industry

WE NEVER STOP

LEARNING

At Ottawa Plumbing and Heating, we place a strong emphasis on technician skills and education. Our in-house training sessions, held weekly in our dedicated classroom, provide valuable skill development while helping to ease the burden of complex service calls—ultimately benefiting our customers.

Meet the Team

Nairn Reid
Owner

Nairn is the owner and President of Ottawa Plumbing and Heating. He is a licensed G1 gas fitter, oil burner mechanic and refrigeration mechanic with 56 years of experience in the HVAC industry. Nairn has always lived and worked in Ottawa, beginning his career as an oil truck delivery driver in 1969. In 1981, he started his own HVAC business, NH Reid Enterprises, along with his wife, Molly. His brother joined the company as a partner in 1983. After a decade in business together, the brothers divided NH Reid Enterprises, and Nairn went back out on his own, founding Climate Control Inc. Then, in 2001, Nairn purchased Ottawa Plumbing and Heating from Robert Hobbs and Bob Currie, after Robert became ill. Shortly thereafter, Nairn fell ill himself and chose to close Climate Control Inc. to focus on the smaller and more easily manageable Ottawa Plumbing and Heating. After making a full recovery, Nairn threw his full effort and energy into building Ottawa Plumbing and Heating into the thriving local business it is today.

Devon Reid
Owner/Operations Manager

Devon Reid is our lead mechanic and trainer, having been deeply involved in the family business his entire life. It’s often said that he grew up in the trade—by the age of 12, he was already cleaning boiler tubes. He became a licensed oil burner technician before even finishing high school and has since earned a G1 gas fitter license. Devon successfully challenged and passed the refrigeration exam (313A), completed his plumbing apprenticeship to obtain his plumbing license (306A), and in 2014, Devon finished his electrical apprenticeship to earn his electrician’s license (309A). Two years later, Devon passed his master electrician’s licence, allowing us to become a certified electrical contractor. With extensive expertise, Devon is equipped to advise on or work with gas and oil equipment ranging from a 30,000 BTU backyard BBQ to a 100,000,000 BTU asphalt plant dryer. In addition to his technical skills in refrigeration and electrical work, he also serves as a mentor and trainer.

Harleigh Moore
General Manager

Harleigh Moore is our general manager. She joined us eight years ago after graduating from St. Lawrence College with a diploma in business administration. Although she had no prior experience in the heating and air conditioning industry, she quickly demonstrated an ability to learn, adapt, and handle new challenges effectively. Harleigh advanced rapidly, moving from managing customer accounts to overseeing all aspects of the business while collaborating with the entire team to ensure customer satisfaction.
